Performance and Engine of Mercedes benz G Class in India

Engine Displacement: 3,982 cc (V8) / 2,989 cc (Diesel)

The flagship AMG G 63 features a handcrafted 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine now augmented with a 48V mild-hybrid integrated starter-generator (ISG). This powerhouse produces 577 bhp / 585 PS and a massive 850 Nm of torque. The G 450d (replacing the G 400d) uses a 3.0-litre straight-six diesel engine producing 362 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, also featuring mild-hybrid assistance for better low-end response.

Cylinder and Fuel System: 8 Cylinders / Direct Injection

The G 63 utilizes an 8-cylinder "Hot Inside V" turbocharger configuration with Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI). The valve train is a Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) system with 4 valves per cylinder. The hybrid ISG provides an additional 20-22 hp boost during initial acceleration to mitigate turbo lag.

Acceleration and Speed: 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds

Despite its aerodynamic profile resembling a brick, the AMG G 63 clocks 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds (using the new "Race Start" launch control). Its top speed is electronically limited to 220 km/h, though it can be increased to 240 km/h with the optional AMG Driver's Package. The diesel G 450d reaches 100 km/h in roughly 5.8 seconds.
