The iX3 utilizes a newly developed single-speed fixed-ratio transmission. This gearbox is integrated directly into the motor housing (the "E-Drive Unit") to save weight and improve mechanical efficiency, resulting in the whisper-quiet operation expected of a luxury BMW.
Drive Type: All-Wheel Drive (xDrive)
The xDrive system on the Neue Klasse iX3 is purely digital. By utilizing independent motors for the front and rear, it provides a much more responsive AWD experience than mechanical systems, allowing the car to mimic a rear-biased setup for sporty driving or full AWD for stability.
