Gearbox Type: 10-Speed Automatic
The Ranger features Ford's advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. With more ratios than its competitors, it can keep the engine in its optimal power band more effectively. It also features "Progressive Range Select," allowing drivers to lock out higher gears when towing on hilly terrain to prevent excessive shifting.
Drive Type: Part-Time or Full-Time 4WD
The 2026 Ranger offers two 4WD systems. Base models use a traditional part-time 4WD system (2H, 4H, 4L). Higher trims like the Wildtrak and Platinum feature an "Advanced" 4WD system with a 4A (Automatic) mode, which can be used on sealed roads to automatically distribute torque between the front and rear wheels as grip levels change.
