Gearbox Type: 6-MT / 6-iMT / IVT / 6-AT / 7-DCT
Kia offers an industry-leading array of transmissions for the Seltos. Options include a traditional 6-speed Manual, a 6-speed Intelligent Manual (iMT) which lacks a physical clutch pedal, a smooth IVT (CVT) for the naturally aspirated petrol, a 6-speed Torque Converter Automatic for the Diesel, and a lightning-fast 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) for the Turbo Petrol. The DCT uses two clutches for alternating gears, allowing for near-instantaneous shifts.
Drive Type: FWD (Front Wheel Drive)
In the Indian and Nepali markets, the Seltos is primarily a Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) SUV. This configuration is chosen to maximize fuel efficiency and interior cabin space by eliminating the center tunnel required for a rear driveshaft. For light off-roading, the FWD system is supplemented by electronic "Traction Modes" (Sand, Mud, Snow) that modulate engine torque and braking to prevent wheel spin.

The clutch technology varies by transmission choice. The Manual and iMT variants use a dry single-plate friction clutch. The 7-speed DCT utilizes a sophisticated dry-type dual-clutch mechanism, which provides a direct-drive feel without the "rubber-band" effect often found in CVTs.
