Like most modern EVs, the BYD Seal uses a high-reduction single-speed transmission. This eliminates the need for gear shifts, providing a seamless and linear power delivery. The transmission is integrated into BYD’s "8-in-1" powertrain, which combines the motor, inverter, and reducer into a single compact housing for better efficiency.
Drive Type: All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
The Performance variant features an intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. It utilizes an asynchronous motor in the front and a synchronous motor in the rear. This setup allows the car to switch between RWD and AWD in milliseconds, optimizing for either energy conservation or maximum grip depending on the driver's input and road conditions.
