Safety: i-Activsense & 5-Star Ratings
The CX-5 is a perennial IIHS Top Safety Pick+. The 2026 suite includes Smart Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection, Lane-Keep Assist, and an upgraded 360-degree View Monitor. Mazda has also reinforced the side-impact structure to meet the latest, more stringent global crash test protocols.
Tech: 15.6-inch Touchscreen with Google Built-In
In a major departure from previous years, the 2026 CX-5 features a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen—the largest ever in a Mazda. It runs on a "Google Built-In" operating system, integrating Google Maps and Google Assistant natively, while still providing Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Proprietary Tech: G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC+)
GVC Plus is standard on the CX-5. It goes beyond engine torque control by applying light braking to the outside wheels when recovering from a turn. This "emergency avoidance" capability keeps the vehicle incredibly stable during sudden lane changes or when driving on slippery, rain-slicked roads.
