Gearbox Type: Single Speed Automatic
The Aion Y utilizes a high-efficiency Single Speed Reduction Gearbox. Unlike traditional internal combustion engines, the electric motor's wide power band eliminates the need for multiple gears. Shifting is handled via an "Intelligent Integrated Column Shift" (stalk behind the steering wheel), which frees up significant space in the center console for storage and wireless charging.
Drive Type: Front-Wheel Drive (FWD)
The drivetrain follows a Front-Motor, Front-Wheel Drive configuration. This layout is ideal for maximizing interior cabin space—a core selling point of the Aion Y. By concentrating the mechanical components at the front, GAC has achieved a completely flat floor for the rear passengers, mimicking the legroom of a luxury limousine.
