Moving away from traditional torque converters, the 2026 X1 uses a lightning-fast 7-speed Steptronic Dual-Clutch Transmission. This setup allows for pre-selecting the next gear, resulting in near-instantaneous shifts and improved fuel efficiency.
Drive Type: xDrive AWD
The 2026 X1 comes standard with xDrive, BMW's intelligent all-wheel-drive system. It primarily powers the front wheels for efficiency but can send 100% of power to the rear wheels almost instantly when traction loss is detected or during aggressive cornering.
