Performance and Engine of Mercedes benz GLC in India

Engine Displacement: 1,999 cc (Petrol) / 1,993 cc (Diesel)

The GLC in India is powered by a pair of refined 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines. The GLC 300 petrol produces 255 bhp and 400 Nm, while the GLC 220d diesel produces 194 bhp and 440 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 48V integrated starter-generator (ISG) mild-hybrid system that adds an extra 23 bhp and 200 Nm of torque for smoother low-end performance and improved fuel efficiency.

Configuration: 4 Cylinders / 16-Valve DOHC

Both the petrol (M254) and diesel (OM654M) engines feature an in-line 4-cylinder layout with a Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) and 4 valves per cylinder. The petrol version uses Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI), while the diesel version uses a high-pressure Common Rail Direct Injection (CRDI) system combined with a variable geometry turbocharger.

Acceleration and Speed: 0-100 km/h in 6.2 - 8.0 seconds

The petrol GLC 300 is the quicker of the two, sprinting from 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. The diesel GLC 220d takes approximately 8.0 seconds to reach the same milestone. The top speed for the petrol variant is 240 km/h, while the diesel variant is electronically limited to 219 km/h.
