Performance & Engine of Mahindra Scorpio Classic in India

Engine Displacement: 2,184 cc

The Scorpio Classic is powered by the Gen 2 mHawk 2.2L Diesel engine. This all-aluminum engine is approximately 55 kg lighter than the previous generation, which significantly improves fuel efficiency and front-end handling. It is tuned specifically for low-end torque, making it ideal for both city "crawling" and heavy-load highway hauling.

Max Power: 130 bhp @ 3,750 rpm

While the power figure might seem modest compared to the Scorpio-N, the 130 bhp is delivered linearly. The focus here is on reliability and sustained performance rather than outright speed, ensuring the engine lasts for lakhs of kilometers.

Max Torque: 300 Nm @ 1,600–2,800 rpm

The real strength of the Classic is its 300 Nm of torque, with 77% of it available from just 1,000 rpm. This "anti-stall" characteristic allows the driver to pull away in higher gears without the engine struggling.

Valve Train: DOHC (4 Valves Per Cylinder)

The Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) layout ensures better breathing for the engine. Combined with the micro-hybrid technology (auto start-stop), it helps the Scorpio Classic maintain a balance between power and the rising fuel costs of 2026.
