The MG Comet EV is specifically designed to tackle the unique challenges of dense urban environments in India. It is powered by a 17.3 kWh prismatic cell battery that is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance, ensuring reliability during heavy monsoons. The electric motor, mounted on the rear axle, produces 42 PS of power and 110 Nm of torque. This setup allows for a nimble driving experience with a class-leading turning radius of just 4.2 meters, making it exceptionally easy to park and maneuver through narrow city lanes. With a range of 230 km on a single charge, it serves as an ideal daily commuter for city dwellers.
In terms of charging, MG has introduced "Fast Charging" (FC) variants to the Comet lineup, which support 7.4 kW AC charging. This technology reduces the 0–100% charge time to approximately 3.5 hours, providing a significant advantage over the standard 7-hour charging cycle. The vehicle also features three levels of regenerative braking, allowing drivers to maximize range by recovering energy during stop-and-go traffic. Furthermore, the innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option allows buyers to lower the initial cost significantly, paying for the battery usage on a per-kilometer basis, which redefines the affordability of electric mobility in India.
