Performance & Engine of Isuzu D Max in Bangladesh

Engine Displacement: 1,898 cc (1.9L) / 2,164 cc (2.2L)

The 2026 D-Max marks a significant shift with the introduction of the 2.2L RZ4F-TC "MaxForce" engine, which is gradually replacing or supplementing the long-standing 1.9L RZ4E. For the Bangladesh market, this new 2.2L engine is engineered with redesigned cylinder heads and a high-swirl combustion system. These changes are crucial for local conditions as they improve oil flow and reduce friction, ensuring the engine remains reliable even when subjected to the high-heat, stop-and-go traffic of Dhaka or the heavy-duty hauling required in Chittagong’s industrial zones.

Max Power: 150 PS (1.9L) / 163 PS (2.2L)

The power output in the 2.2L MaxForce engine has been bumped to 163 PS at 3,600 rpm. This 13 PS increase over the 1.9L variant is achieved through a more sophisticated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and improved fuel injection pressures. This extra power is particularly noticeable during mid-range acceleration, providing the D-Max with the necessary grunt to overtake long convoys of trucks on the N1 highway without the engine feeling laborious or overly noisy.

Max Torque: 350 Nm (1.9L) / 400 Nm (2.2L)

Torque is where the 2026 model truly shines, with the 2.2L engine delivering 400 Nm between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. This is a 14% increase over the 1.9L unit. More importantly, the engineering team has tuned the engine to provide 255 Nm of torque from just 1,000 rpm. This low-end "crawler" torque is a game-changer for Bangladeshi drivers navigating deeply rutted rural roads or starting on steep inclines with a full 1.2-tonne payload in the cargo bed.
